Error sharing violation 0x80070020 RRS feed

  • I am running windows 7 64 bit home edition and unable to install service pack2 because of the sharing violation code.  I tried turning off my antivirus and that didn't help.  what can I do please?

    Let us try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

    1.Renamed the Downloader folder:


    STEP1: Click on “Start” and type in cmd and then right click on cmd and select “Run as Administrator”.


    STEP2: Type in the following command and then hit enter: ren C:\programdata\microsoft\network\downloader downloader.old


    STEP3: Close the command prompt.

    2.Ran the Windows Update reset fix it tool:

    STEP1:  Open “Internet Explorer”.

    STEP2:  Got to the webpage http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058


    STEP3:  Click on “Fix-it” and then click on “Run”.


    STEP4:  Follow the screen instructions to complete the process.


    STEP5: Restart the computer once the process is finished.

  • There is no Service Pack 2 for Windows 7, only Service Pack 1.  Can you please restate your question?
