.net Framework 3.5 in Win 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just leant that you can not install .net Framework 3.5 on Windows 7. I also learned that it is part of the Win 7 OS but has to be turned on from Windows features. I'm doing Windows 7 deployment and need .net Framework 3.5 to be turned on programatically. Does anyone know how to turn this feature on automatically.

  • Hi,

The Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 is turned on by default.

Otherwise, if you are talking about Windows Communication Foundation HTTP Activation / Non-HTTP activation then you can the commands below:

    dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-NonHTTP-Activation
    dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-HTTP-Activation

  • Like Yannick said, .Net Framework 3.5 is automatically included and turned on in Windows 7.  If you are still having issues, go to Windows Features and make sure you screen looks similar (this is from Win8DevPre, but is very similar in Win7).

  • That's exectly how my Windows Features look like. So if I have applications that are .Net Frameworks 3.5 dependent I dont need to do enything extra as far as enabeling the features. And what are these HTTP Activation and non HTTP Activation for?

Thank you both for fast respond
