What is Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro


  • I am currently using Windows 7 and want to go to windows 8.1. I have a students account in where Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro is available for student for free. Now I have no idea what is Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro. So, please tell me whats the basic differences between windows 8.1 pro and Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro? Can I install that in my home PC?

    My PC configuration:

    Dell Inspiron 15, Intel Ci5, 4GB ram

    What I use my PC for - Study ebooks, Gaming, Programming

  • As the name shows the Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro is a Embedded Version of Windows 8.

    This version si designed for being installed on sale systems and other embedded devices:

    Windows Embedded Industry (Formerly Windows Embedded POSReady) is an operating system developed by Microsoft as part of its Windows Embedded line of products designed for use in Industrial Devices such as Automated teller machines and Self Service Checkouts.

    You should install the normal Windows 8.1 Pro.
