No Audio Using HDMI Connection to TV RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows 7 Home Prem 32 Bit.  Dell laptop Inspiron 1525.  Laptop has HDMI Output when connected to TV...Video is great, no Audio.

Control Panl\Spound shows 1)Speaker/Headphones Sigma Tel High Definition AudioCODEC 2)Digital Output Device (SPDIF) Sigma Tel High Audio CODEC.

Device Mgr shows Intel (R)High Definition Audio CODEC....but in Control Panel\Sound there is NO HDMI selection.  I have tried making the SPDIF Default...still no Audio connecting to TV via HDMI cable.  I have tried to update drivers...it comes back I have newest drivers installed.

I can connect via HDMI from my Laptop to TV..and get sound if I connect from Laptops Audio Output ...but this connection defeats a feature of using HDMI which is designed to carry both Video and Sound.

Suggestion needed how to get audio using HDMI Connection.

Does your graphics card support sound via the HDMI output? If it does,
you'll probably need to run a cable between the internal SPDIF header and
the graphics card's sound header. On the other hand, if your graphics card
doesn't support sound via HDMI, you're stuck with using a separate sound
    cable.

  • WOW...that is a lot to take in......"need to run a cable between the internal SPDIF header and
    the graphics card's sound header".
How does one do this?  I am fairly certain my Laptop's HDMI supports Audio...it is a matter of either configuring it, or, drivers.  I have checked for Updated drivers, it shows my Drivers are the newest.......

  • Try updating the driver for your sound device.
