Windows 7 Product Key error code 0xC004E003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am receiving this code 0xc004e003. I run windows 7 on hp pavilion dv6z 2100 purchased in 2010. I called Microsoft and they were able to find my product key on my computer, because the sticker on the back is rubbed off. they told me I needed to contact hp for further help, my product key is blocked. HP won't do anything because it is out of warranty, and I need to buy a 1 year support contract. Is there anything else I can do besides pay HP?

  • Hi connie naumann,

The error code 0xC004E003 means that the Software Licensing Service reported that license evaluation failed.

Here is what you could to do.

    1. Press the WINKEY+R to bring up the Run dialog box.

    2. Type SLUI 4 in the box and press OK. This will start the Telephone Activation Wizard.

    3. Select your country in the drop down menu and click the Next Button. Follow the instructions on the screen and call the number that is shown there.

Follow the recorded instructions and when the telephone activation fails, stay on the line and an Activation Representative will answer. Just describe the problem you are experiencing and they will manually activate the system for you.

The OEM SLP keys self-activate if the corresponding data in the BIOS is correct.  OEM SLP keys cannot be used by the end user to manually activate Windows.  The COA SLP key is printed on a sticker affixed to the side of the computer case (desktops), or on the bottom of the case (laptops), or in the battery compartment (newer laptops).  This is the key for the user to enter manually should he need to activate Windows himself.

Hope it will be helpful to you
