Drive D partition is missing in windows 7

  • My drive D has recently disappeared.  It is a OEM partition of a 320g hard drive.  I've tried using my computer/manage/storage and it is listed as healthy and with 139.5Go however if I right click to assign a drive letter, it just says "help", which is what I'm asking for here.   My drive shows 143.04g NTFS

PS.This is a French computer so some of my translations may be off.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

Do you have any third party disk management software installed? If so, I would like to suggest you temporarily uninstall it to test the issue.

You may also try to reassign the drive letter in Safe Mode.

If this issue began recently, you may also consider to run System Restore.

  • Hi Pwahlbrink,

From disk management, right click the D:\ drive, select properties, select the security tab and verify the security permissions are set to allow for all users groups.
