OS in-place upgrade

Question
-
In a hierarchy with CAS, after doing in place upgrade to 1602 WSUS 3.2 needs to be unistalled to do OS in place upgrade
What affect will this have on the child primary sites which have the CAS configured as upstream WSUS?
For example The CAS will be on Server 2012 R2 with WSUS 4 .. WSUS sync will fail on Primary sites.. no new updates will be available..
All SUPs have to be removed and resinatlled on Primary sites ?

Correct on the WSUS/SUP removal because WSUS is a different version so you really have no choice there.

The configuration in ConfigMgr is not explicitly tied to have having a SUP so removing the SUP will leave all of that in tact and reinstalling WSUS and the SUP after the fact should hook everything back together nicely.

What OS are the primary sites on?

Most, including the CAS, are on Server 2008 R2 and a few are on 2012 R2
Thinking about it.. what is the best order to do this?.. i assume all WSUS and SUPs will be removed and resinstalled after the OS in-place upgrade?..
Thanks

Hi Jason,
What would be your recommendation with regards to update groups and deployments for the software updates. With removing all WSUS and SUPs is it possible to maintain the update groups and deployments or will it be best to start again fresh with Software updates?
