    Does a program exist that alows one to recover the data truncated by the ScanDisk operation when inconsistencies are found and saved via the form of CHK files?

    found a "user-developed" utility that can recover some file type : http://www.ericphelps.com/uncheck/unchk3.zip

    run at your own risk but it worked for me. 

    if your running windows 7, you might also need this file to make it work. extract the contents to the folder where you will extract the unchk.zip file
