I've been using a great legacy music notation program with Vista Home Basic -- yes, the menu borders were fat and in the way but the program continued to work great. After downloading and installing windows updates, as usual, I got the following message:
System\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. Virtual Device Driver Format in the registry is invalid. Choose 'close' to terminate the application.
This message appears whether I try to install the program or run a previously installed program.I
I have noted a fix for xp machines that have experienced the same problem, but none yet for vista. The registry file that used to contain the VDD folder in Vista no longer exists. On a machine that had not been updated, the program still ran.
I want to get my music program back, and whatever legacy programs may be affected by this registry change. Is there a solution?
