  • Hi all,

I create an USB bootable WinPe as:

On your technician PC, you had installed Windows ADK for Windows 10, version 1703

    Link to download ADK tool:

    https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/windows-assessment-deployment-kit

start the Deployment and Imaging Tools Environment as an administrator:

Click Start, type Deployment and Imaging Tools Environment. Right-click Deployment and Imaging Tools Environment and select Run as administrator.

    • Copy the base WinPE files into a new folder:

    copype amd64 C:\winpe_amd64

      • Plug in a USB size from 500MB that you don't mind formatting. Note the drive letter it uses, for example, H.
      • Install WinPE to an empty USB drive:

    MakeWinPEMedia /UFD C:\winpe_amd64 H:

When prompted, press Y to format the drive and install WinPE.

In File Explorer, right-click the drive and select Eject. Finish

Now I meet issue as: when I type command: bcdedit -> Enter

It show message as image below.

I try with case using USB 2.0 plug port USB 2.0 on motherboard but still error

my target using bcdedit for edit BCD file. rename description in it.

Who can help me? thank you very much

  • Hi,

I am not sure which steps you have did, would you mind to provide the link you referred?

    "Rename description in it"

    What's the exact purpose?

Command line bcdedit is used for replacing boot.ini, at first please check if the file "boot.ini" exists in S:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot.

    Bests,

  • Hi,

    What’s the main purpose?

BCDEdit is a command-line tool for managing BCD stores. We need to make sure your computer have installed Operating system and the BCD file works well.

To verify whether there is a system installed on the machine, we could boot into WinRE and run command line “bootrec /scanos”.
