tasklist.exe - Uanble to Locate Component

So, I was checking my process list after listening to my hard rive chug away for about 5 minutes for no apparent reason, and found a service which was having 500-600 hard faults per second. So I decided to see what that service was, to maybe track down the sporadic performance hits I get. I tried to use the tasklist.exe command to check it out:

    >tasklist /svc /FI "PID eq 312"

, but no dice, I get an error:

"This application has failed to start because framedynos.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Yeah right. Anyone ever had this problem, or maybe have any idea why tasklist doesn't seem to want to run? Am I maybe missing a Vista component or something?  This is Vista x64 Ultimate by the way.... and it's a pretty fresh install.

  • Fixed the issue, and I hope this will help others as well.

    BTW:  running Vista Home Premium

I assume my system paths got messed up, but easily fixed -- framedynos.dll is in the folder \Windows\System32\wbem, so just copy it up a directory, and both programs can find it.

Although a more permanent fix may be:

(right-click my computer) --> properties --> advanced --> environment variables

and find path; add to the end:  ;c:\windows\system32\wbem
