Does Disk2vhd do the exact copy of the whole disk?

  Hi,

  I have HDD issues and I'm trying to recover data.

  I've disabled and scrubed automount so that my PC wouldn't slow down because of the defective HDD.

  I created the vhdx image without using a "Volume Shadow Copy".

  

  Then I tried to do the recovery with the testdisk_win application and found that a certain option is missing:

  When using defective drive I have undelete option:

  

  And when using VHDX (inside a Hyper-V virtual machine) I don't have that option, nor is partition name displayed:

  

  So my question is, is the VHDX the exact copy of the HDD? Is some data perhaps omitted from the copy?
