Public Folder Calendar disappearing from Other Calendars in Outlook 2010 RRS feed

  • Pergunta

  • My environment is mixed Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010 SP1 update 5. I have a number of users that access a public folder calendar by adding it to their public folder favorites which then adds it to their Outlook 2010 Other Calendars.

Beginning last week these users started reporting that the public folder calendars are starting to disappear from Other Calendars. If they go to their public folder favorites and click on the public folder calendar it seems to add it back in to Other Calendars.

Any ideas why they started to disappear?

  • Hi ,

Did you try to run outlook /resetnavpaner or recreate Outlook Profile ?

It seems to an Outlook issue.

You may also post it to Office Forum.

  • Make sure the folder has a replica in the Exchange 2010 public folder database and content has replicated.

  • Perhaps someone deleted and recreated the folder.

  • No it's multiple public folder calendars and multiple users. Nothing was deleted. The calendars are there as you can still see them if you drill down through the public folder hierarchy, or even look at the users public folder favorites. It seems like there is a hook between the public folder calendar in public folder favorites and other calendars in the calendar shortcut area.

It seems like something breaks with that connection /linkage and by clicking on the public folder calendar in favorites refreshes the view of the calendar in the Other Calendars in Outlook 2010 and it's back from it's disappearance.

I thought maybe it was a Office 2010 update. Not sure really but it just started happening apparently.

  • You might want to post in the Outlook forum; perhaps someone there has seen your issue.

  • We will try that and report back. My colleague and I have tried to duplicate the issue with our Outlook 2010 with the same public folder calenders and haven't been able to create the issue. But I definitely have about 10 users with the issue.

  • Good point. The reason I picked this thread was I had moved these users to Exchange 2010 recently and it was working fine before so I wasn't sure if it was related.

  • I am also seeing the same issue.  Public Calendar Favorites are disappearing from "Other Calendars" as users click on them.  They can be added by restarting Outlook and making the calendar a favorite again.   Exchange 2010 SP3.  Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013.  It seems to be happening more on users that have use many calendars.  Any ideas?

  • In Outlook, go to account settings, click on the profile, click change, more settings, advanced tab,  and check the 'Download Public Folder Favorites'. Then restart Outlook, go to a calendar in the public folders, then go to your calendar to view the 'other calendars'

  • I'm having exactly the same issue and not sure what is the cause. More users getting affected everyday but after restart the Exchange mailbox server, usually the problem goes away for a couple of days. No errors in event log.

I have calendars that are 5-10GB each, it will be impossible to download all the calendars. Still no idea why....

  • Ok, managed the resolve the issue by manually archiving all the emails in the calendars. The size is probably getting too huge and users are enumerating the entire list whenever they connect to the calendar.
