  • kernel32.dll is system dll for Windows. Find it on another healthy computer and copy it to your system32 or syswow64 folder(for 64 bit). Don't forget to register it and restart your computer.

    Install KB2533623

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26767

Run sfc /scannow command via CMD, after finished, restart and check again.

    Regards

  • Thanks Teemo,

Installing the KB corrected this for me. (e.g. I didn't transfer the driver or fun sfc /scannow). The article about the KB states that it's designed to specifically address this issue. FWIW, I was trying to install drivers from Dell for an Optiplex 7010 when this error occurred.

  • Hi Ross,

As stated right at the beginning. follow the link to the KB.

If you are running Windows 64 bit continue to the KB article and select the x64 download, as the page link noted only has the 32 bit version.

    It worked for me.

    Thanks Teemo
