  • 問題

  • Hello Microsoft Community,

I'm trying to figure out what is happening with the WSUS server so far no success

WSUS is trying to download 287gb of updates.. how?

Most of my clients are WIN10(1809 with july commulative updates)

    1x WIN8.1 and 2x WIN7

I'm downloading the updates only with 2 languages and with the next product classifications:

    also:

Can't uncheck the UPGRADES part, it is always coming back after unchecking it...

I don't have Automatic Approvals rules

    Dont have downstream servers

解答

  • WSUS is trying to download 287gb of updates.. how?

WSUS will download the updated files after you have approved the update. First, please confirm the number of updates you have approved and their download status. As for the snapshots you provided, there are currently 3,743 updates that are required. These updates are likely to include expired updates that have been replaced. Please approve them based on actual conditions.

As a reference, by the following method snapshot you can check for updates download status approved, and verify that the update is substituted.

Can't uncheck the UPGRADES part, it is always coming back after unchecking it...

After modifying the classification, check the change.log (usually located in Program Files\Update Services\LogFiles). After the parameters have been modified normally, you may see the following modification record.

  • Is it posiable to Unapprove all updates that were approved before, and start from scratch without removing wsus role?

Of course, you can cancel the approval of the updates you have approved.

The reason for the connection error in the snapshot is usually the WSUS database connection failure. If you click on 'Reset Server Node' and you can go back to the WSUS console, the cause of the problem may be caused by low dedicated memory. You can refer to the following steps to add the WSUS application pool configuration in IIS:

    1. Check the status of the application pool running the WSUS service.
      (1)  On your WSUS Server, launch the IIS Manager.
      (2)  Click 'Application Pools' is in the Connections list.
      (3)  Right click 'WsusPool' and select 'Start' to restart the WSUSPool.

    2. Lower memory limits can also cause a situation.
      (1)  On your WSUS Server, launch the IIS Manager.
      (2)  Click 'Application Pools' is in the Connections list.
      (3)  Right click 'WsusPool' and select 'Advanced Settings…'
             'General' - 'Queue Length' : 25,000.
'Rapid-Fail Protection' - 'Service Unavailable' Response: TcpLevel
             'Rapid-Fail Protection' - 'Failure Interval (minutes)' : 30
             'Rapid-Fail Protection' - 'Maximum Failures' : 60
'Recucling' - 'Private Memory limit' : x4 times, or set to 0 (unlimited).
      (4)  Click 'ok' to save and restart the server.

  • Now after Unapproving all updates that were approved I have this:

    We start here.
Currently WSUS prompts the computer for the 'need' update, which includes some updates that have been replaced, so please do this first, in the WSUS console, browse through all the updates, and follow the first answer I have in this thread. Add the 'Supersedence' column and sort by this, then decline the following two types of updates:

Then run the 'WSUS Server Cleanup Wizard' and choose to clean up the 'Expired updates' and 'Superseded updates' items.

After cleaning up, get a streamlined 'needed update'.

    Then here.
Please check the 'Windows Server update service' specific crash event and its contents in the 'Event Viewer' in the system, which will help you analyze the cause.

Reply back with the results would be happy to help.
