  • Hi, Kindly, please if you could assist below questions?

    With a license Windows Remote Desktop Server CAL 2012?

    QUESTIONS:1. The requirement of multiple remote session of windows 2012 / windows server 2012 r2

    Is it possible as per below scenarios:

    A Single User using the Remote Desktop Connection User 1 / User 1 / User 1 / User 1 / User 1 - Same user can access from 5 different PC's using same login name /password

    Or

    Five Different Users / User 1 / User 2 / User 3 / User 4 / User 5 can access from 5 different Pc's. 5 Diferent User's Login name/password.2. Can i either install all 5 license to one server or it segregate to 2 or 3 server as per my need?3. If somehow we format the server where we have installed Remote desktop cal’s I can change to any other server ?

    Question 1: Both are possible technically as far as licensing you will need to contact your partner/reseller for confirmation. In summary if you purchase RDS User CALs, each user - i.e. person - that accesses the RDS environment will need a CAL. If you purchase RDS Device CALs, each machine that accesses the RDS environment, i.e. client computer will need a CAL.

    Question 2: Licensing is tracked by the License server. If all 3 servers are in the same deployment (not collection) they will share the same license server and licences. The following article explains how to configure.

    Question 3: You can add the licences to a new licence server. When you do this the server contacts Microsoft to activate the licence server. If they do not activate you will need to contact the Microsoft Clearinghouse as per https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754677.aspx.
