Updates are failing to downloaded event id 364, 10032 & 13002 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm getting lots of updates that say "The file for this update failed to download" Then in the event log I've got

    event ID 10032

The server is failing to download some updates.

    event ID 13002

Client computers are installing updates with a higher than 25 percent failure rate. This is not normal.

    event ID 364

Content file download failed. Reason: HTTP status 404: The requested URL does not exist on the server.
Source File: /msdownload/update/software/secu/2011/07/windows6.1-kb2556532-x64_ea1ab3b4f9586812a9e9ca3db8f094330df46642.cab Destination File: D:\WSUS\WsusContent\42\EA1AB3B4F9586812A9E9CA3DB8F094330DF46642.cab.

I have no idea why updates are failing, not all of them fail but a lot do.

Updates are failing because the files associated with those updates were deleted from the WSUS server.

In this case it's the update for KB2556532 (July 2011).

Run wsusutil reset to re-download the missing content, and then review the procedures you're using to manage the filesystem on your WSUS server.

  • Hi,

HTTP status 404 errors always indicate the missing file in the Wsuscontent folder which is not identical with the DB.Run wsusutil reset to see whether it works.

    Best regards,

    Clarence
