Caret Browsing

  • Hi could someone explain in layman's language what is Caret Browsing, why do you need it and does it slow down a lap top.

Can I also ask can a programme be installed on my laptop that monitors what I do ie mail, sites visited and how do I recognise if I had one installed.

    Thank you

  • Hi,

Rather than using a mouse to select text and move around within a webpage, you can use standard navigation keys on your keyboard-Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, and the arrow keys. This feature is called Caret Browsing and is named after the caret-or cursor-that appears when you edit a document.

This feature places a moveable cursor in web pages, allowing you to select text with the keyboard. This is better suited for Laptops/Notebooks

You can press F7 to turn On or Off Caret browsing.

If you want to enable Caret browsing for new tabs or new windows then Enable Caret Browsing for new windows and tabs check box needs to be selected in Internet Options -> Advanced Tab.

For monitoring users screen you have to depend on the 3rd party spyware applications, to secretly track local/remote computer's keystrokes, emails, username/password, online chat, and websites visited etc
