Notification of expiration of Windows Server Technical Preview RRS feed

  • Question

  • Today the system gave me notification that the current build would expire on April 15, 2015 and that the computer would start restarting then. Will there be issued an update to the current Windows Server Technical Preview build by then or should the system just be deleted at its expiration date?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

The reality is that we haven’t had a new build since the original.
Maybe an update will be released at some point in the near future that extends the lifespan of the current build (at least the lifespan without shutting down every few hours) beyond 15 April.

I think we could focus on the MS website if there is any updates.

  • According to Mary-Jo Foley at ZDNet, there will be a fix for the current version, and a new build in May:

When I asked about the looming expiration date, a Microsoft spokesperson sent the following statement:

"Microsoft will release a solution to extend the current Windows Server vNext Technical Preview until the next preview is available. The next preview will be available in May."

  • Good, Now I just need to wait for the fix to windows 10 hyper-v so I can get my vnext server running again. Guess that is what I get for updating all my test systems.

  • Hi,

Microsoft promised to extend the preview because the company is just not quite ready to release a new preview.

    You could get it here:
