Removing the Quorum disk.... RRS feed

  • Question

  • We setup a 2 node cluster with a quorum disk.  We now want to add a third node and no longer need the Quorum disk (so I have read).  What is the "right" way to remove the Quorum disk without damaging the existing cluster?

    TIA,

  • Assuming W2K8R2

    1. Open Failover Cluster Manager + connect to cluster

    2. Configure cluster quorum settings

    3. Select Node Majority

    4. Got to "Storage", take Witness Disk offline

    5. Delete Disk

    6. Remove disk from o/s

  • I would also add in there validate the 3 nodes first, and then add the third node then change the cluster quorum settings.
