LACP/Link Aggregation - Max Speed per thread? Only 1 Gb/s per Application? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have 2 Dell PowerEdge servers with NIC Teaming enbled. I did some testing and the Team is OK, even with WIn2012 with Native teaming or Broadcom Teaming and HP Teaming. Tested with LACP and "generic" teaming, everything OK. HP/3COM Switches, all OK.

When i try to do backup using ArcServe or a simple file copy from WIndows Explorer, the speed does not work with more than =~ 50% of the 2 Gb/s Team.

The only thing i can do to use the full 2 Gb/s link speed is to open multiple sessions, multiple applications or usint the NTTCP tool.

    It is the default behaviour?

I tought that with the Teaming enabled, ArcServe will pull the backup using the full extent of the team Link (2 Gb/s)

How can I achive that? How can I use the full max speed of thr Team using only one single aplication?

Do I need to use SMB 3.0/MultiChannel?

It´s normal? One single application (Windows file copy for example) can´t get files faster than 1 Gb/s?
