Server 2012 disks caching RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have several drives presented to a windows server 2012 machine via fibre channel (two single hba's).

If we disconnect the fibre, windows hangs on to the disks and will still list all files/fodlers just wont let you open anything.  If you restart it comes back as would be expected.

This doesn't help us with redundancy.  Is there some kind of feature we can disable/enable or run anything to force windows to pickup the changes?

    thanks

  • Hi Evotel2015,

Consume.exe, bundled with the free “Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools” does this (flush disk cache) and more: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9D467A69-57FF-4AE7-96EE-B18C4790CFFD&displaylang=en

But I'm not sure that support on server 2012, since there's no offical statement for that.

There may also exist the 3rd party software that could achieve, but there's such recommendation from microsoft. You may need to search by yourself and confirm with the vendor.

    Best Regards,

    Mary
