Users in child domain logon to parent domain computer RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to seperate our netwerk that we use for two schools.

We have a parent dc clz.local and a child domain zimmer.clz.local

Our computer are in the domain clz.local

And I want the users from the child domain to able to logon with their child domain user account to these computers.
I thought the just had to login with zimmer.clz\Username on these computers but this doesn't work.

Can anyone help me out please.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

By default when you create child domain in a forest , automatic two way transitive trust will be created , so there is no extra configuration required.

To move on, I would like to confirm the following with your help:

    1. Does this issue occur on other users? Please check if only the specific user is experiencing the issue or all the users are affected.

    2. Have you tried user@domain

    3. Is it a new added child domain? How did you configure DNS for hostname resolution from parent to child and vice versa?

How To  Create a Child Domain in Active Directory and Delegate the DNS Namespace to the Child Domain

    4. Please help to collect some screenshots about the login failure.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Best Regards,

    Alvin Wang
