Using the CA Role to generate RDG Certificate RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a server running Server 2012 R2 Foundation Edition (i.e. no HyperV), I have an external static IPv4 Address furnished by my ISP and I've installed the CA Role services.  I want to be able to generate a Certificate to enable me to access my server via RDG/RDP. I'm currently doing that via a GoDaddy Certificate, and a domain from them that does nothing but forward my RDG request right back to my static IP address, which I feel is a needless expense.

Instead, I'd like to generate my own certificate, and, in the Advanced Tab of my RDP Connection's "Use these RD Gateway server settings", instead of pointing to that dummy domain, I'd enter my external static IP address.

I tried doing that and when I try to connect that way it appears that it would work, but it simply barfs at the GoDaddy certificate.

Could anyone tell me how to use that CA Role service to generate my own certificate?
