  • Here are instructions for 2008 - http://www.win2008r2workstation.com/sticky-notes/  I'm not sure about the legality of that, as I think Microsoft has some rules in their license about copying files from one distribution to another.  You would need a lawyer to check on that.

Otherwise, a simple Bing search will turn up freeware apps you can download.

  • And, as noted in an earlier response, the legality of this is quite questionable.  In fact, providing a download of licensed software can get people in trouble, too.  Hopefully you have cleared this with your lawyer, and the lawyer has actually talked to Microsoft.

  • Don't click on link. When right to a website reflecting website has been infected.

  • Can we down-vote a response?

The original question said, "If this app is not available in Server 2012 then which is the best "Sticky Note" application for this platform."

The response said "This app is not available in Windows Server 2012 R2."

And the responder proceeded to mark his own response both as the proposed answer and as the correct answer. That might explain why he has a high number of points - giving non-answers which he then marks himself as the right answer.

Which is unfortunate, considering this post is the top Internet search result for "sticky notes 2012".

  • Here's one I like: http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/stickies. It's open-source, small and flexible.

I also like the skin Stickies v6.5a. It takes less desk space than the "prettier" versions, but still has LOTS of options on a drop-down menu.

This does require VC++ 2008, which can be downloaded directly from Microsoft.
