Help me for this "Call was canceled by the message filter" errror while pulling information on DC through tool

    Question

  •

CPU, memory and eventlog parameter of this server is getting collected, however services related information is not getting captured by the BMC Portal tool.

It gives “Call was canceled by the message filter” Error message when we try to connect to this server via WMI protocol.

  • Hi,

Make sure that DCOM is enabled: run "dcomcnfg", select "Component Services - Computers - My Computer", right-click, "Properties", open "Default Properties" tab and make sure that "Enable Distributed COM on this computer" is enabled.

  • Hi,

What is BMC tool? It seems the issue is not related to Directory Service.

If this is not related to DS, its better to contact the vendor or BMC tool support team to get the issue resolved.

  • Well, then let me ask this question...

When this occurs doing a powershell WMI query, from one server to another, are there any ideas what is wrong?Just because BMC is getting an OS level problem doesn't mean BMC is the only place it can be fixed.

In my case, it was Microsoft's powershell that returned the error.

Get-WmiObject : Call was canceled by the message filter. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010002 (RPC_E_CALL_CANCELED))

    At C:\Scripts\MyApp4.ps1:181 char:23
