  • Hi,

What is the operating system for your server? Had you accessed any website(IIS) before you got this error? Sometime, this event ID can be ignored.

If you are running Windows Server 2008 R2 and a user tried to access a SSL site using HTTP protocol and specifying the SSL port. Then this is by design, it indicates is a user is trying to access the website with a wrong protocol.

Furthermore, it may be due to Isass.exe. I recommend you to check the execution Process ID in the Details tab of this event ID in Event Viewer, and then check the PID in task manager to see which process is causing this error. After that, you can disable that process to see if the issue persists.

You can also refer to the similar thread below:

Schannel error, Event ID 36888? - IS there a way to Identify what causes Schannel to log error?

    Best regards,
