ocsetup doesn't check for VT hardware

    General discussion

  • I was playing around with Hyper-V inside of VMware Workstation today and discovered that ocsetup doesn't stop me from installing the Hyper-V role as ServerManager does.  This goes for both core and full installations.  Of course, since the hardware isn't supported the Virtual Machine Bus and Virtualization Infrastructure Driver devices never load and the Hyper-V role never properly starts.

Shouldn't ocsetup perform the same sanity check as ServerManager?

  • Also - if you haven't already discovered...

Running ocsetup on server full does not install the Hyper-V components.  It is designed specifically for server core.

(try uninstalling with ocsetup on server full..)
