How the preauthentication method's work? or ADFS vs Pass-through RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We plan to build a standard AD FS environment with 2 AD FS servers in a farm together with 2 WAP within a DMZ. The target is to enable SSO for different SaaS as well as SharePoint and O365. I'm afraid to ask stupid questions but I hope to get help to sort this out.

We have to clarify some questions previously:

1- From a security point of view - during WAP configuration (Publish New Applicaion Wizard) which preauthentication method is more secure - AD FS or Pass-through? And why?

2- Is it possible to leave out to store the private key of the SSL certificate (usual the same as for the AD FS servers)? And do this depent on which preauthentication method is used?

Thank You for your precious time.

    Best Regards

    Markus
