Dynamic Update Issues with DNS Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Team,

We are facing an issue in our DNS setup where dynamic updates are not properly working.

    Setup:

    Windows Server standard 2016

DHCP server is configured in SonicWALL firewall for all land segments.

DNS server is configured in Windows.

    Issue:

The client machines which get new IP address doesn't get registered automatically in the DNS manager. We are manually changing them at our end. We have only enabled secure dynamic updates in the zone properties in DNS manager.

Can anyone assist me with a solution for this please? We don't want the DHCP to be configured in the Windows Server.

    Thanks

    SJ

  • Hi,

To use a DNS dynamic update to register the IP addresses of this connection and the primary domain name of the computer, select the Register this connection's addresses in DNS check box.

  • Hi Travis,

The issue didn't get fixed as per your info. The settings were already there on client pcs.

we moved the DHCP to Windows Server. now dynamic updates started.
