Azure hypethetical question RRS feed

  • Question

  • H all. Not really a hypothetical question more one of self learning for me.

Here is the scenario. I have a SQL and IIS Hyper-V server VMs. I am moving the IIS server to Azure - not Web Apps, but moving the server in full (IaaS). I have connectivity using Express Route.

Here's the question. Or rather, what option would be best?

    1. Use a Azure virtual network and have an IP address allocated to IIS. (if so, how would the server with a 10. non-routable connect to the SQL server?

    2. Or create custom private IP range, assign the IIS box an IP address. Would any natting be involved here or would this be an extension of my IP network on site?

In either example, how would IIS connect to SQL.

    Thank you.
