Launch application at VM start, before user login RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a desktop client - Azure server application, with the server running on a Windows 2016 Azure VM. The VM has NSG and Firewall rules configured to allow traffic to several ports (to communication with the desktop clients in TCP).

At this moment I am obliged to connect and login so that the server starts (it is in the start-up menu of the VM for the admin user). But what I want is to start the server, which is an executable, when I start the VM from the Azure dashboard, without the need to login into the VM.

I have tried to create a task, with the appropriate settings, with Task Scheduler (as per here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/38818996/start-vb-net-application-before-windows-login/38819276#38819276), but it doesn't work.

I don't know if it is because of the NSG and Firewall rules (are they applied/running before a user login?) or there is another solution to implement.
