Is the Windows Recovery (WinRE) applicable for Nano? Can't find REAgentC.exe on Nano. RRS feed

  • Question

  • According to the section "Nano Server Unattend XML files for WDS deployments" in this doc http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA5-5841ENW.pdf

    <ModifyPartition wcm:action=“add">
        <Format>NTFS</Format>
        <Label>Recovery</Label>
        <Order>1</Order>
        <PartitionID>1</PartitionID>
        <TypeID>DE94BBA4-06D1-4D40-A16A-BFD50179D6AC</TypeID>
    </ModifyPartition>

    There are still a Recovery partition.

    But is the Windows Recovery (WinRE)  applicable for Nano? If not, we could delete this partition, right?

    And I can't find REAgentC.exe on Nano too.

  • Hi fantasyofjay, Nano Server setup does not currently support setting up the Windows Recovery (WinRE) partition. As you noted, neither REAgentC.exe nor reagent.dll are included. These binaries are needed to populate the recovery partition during setup/upgrade.
