Folder sharing using FQDN RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

Can I share the folder using full server name (FQDN), for example:

    Computer name: Server1

    Full Computer name: Server1.abc.example.com

    Domain: abc.example.com

    shared folder: d:\test

Now when i share folder i have path \\Server1\test and I want \\Server1.abc.example.com\test

    Thank you in advance.

All replies

  • Hi,

When you create a shared folder you can access the share by using any of the following methods:

    • \\Server1\test
    • \\Server1.abc.example.com\test
    • \\IP address of Server1\test

Simply enter the full FQDN path (\\Server1.abc.example.com\test) when accessing the share.

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • Hi,

Thank you for a quick answer.

But  is there any option to change the default network path for the shared folder?

    Unfortunately, and I don't know why, I can't connect using first option (\\Server1\test) :/

Yesterday IT Team moved server to a new domain and sent me a email with info that I can connect using FQDN or IP. :/

    Best regards,

    Bartek

  • Might want to check the DNS records for the server that was moved, might still have old records.
