pass through drive mappings in RDS? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    i was wondering if there is a way to see client drives when using a rdp-in-a-rdp session. In the Citrix world, this is known as "pass-through drive mappings" like stated in this article;
    http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX127872

    i was wondering if rdp has some option to do the samen. I can remember some registry settings for usage with network mappings, but i can't seem to find the article anymore.

  • Hi,

    One technique you may use is to map a drive in your session to your redirected drive, then connect to the second server using Remote Desktop Connection with drive redirection enabled.  For example, in your session you could map K: to your local C: drive like this:

    net use k: \\tsclient\c /persistent:no

    Then connect to the second server within the first session using RD Client with drive redirection enabled.  Inside of the second session the drive will show up as K on CLIENTNAME.
