Upgrading KMS Host 2016 to 2019 on Windows Server 2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Current environment is windows server 2012 RT, kms host 2016 runs in 2012RT. I want to upgrade kms host 2016 to kms host 2019. The issue is that after upgrading, the current count 50 if will be reset or keep current status.  Because, the limit number of activation is 25 clients and 5 servers.

    Therefore, i have to confirm.

You can see the current count is 50, after upgrading to kms host 2019 , the count will be reset or keep?

    (sorry fail to upload picture)

  • Hi,

As my know, the count number will not be reset after upgrading KMS host. Contacted clients' and servers' machine ID will also be persisted to KMS counts for meeting the requirement of activation. It stores the 50 most recent contacts in the past 30 days. However, if the machine was not contacted in 30 days by KMS host, it will be removed and the count number will be reduced.

    Bests,

  • It's useful. Patch kms server to 2019 will keep the current count with no change. Thanks
