Internet is connected but network icon showing the limited connectivity.

Question
-
I am facing a strange issue in one of the windows 2012 DC. Everything working fine. But network icon always showing as limited connectivity. I can access the internet from the server without any issue. I can ping to the external IPs. Event viewer always showing two warning:
- The Network List Manager reports no connectivity to the internet.
- A connection to the Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) could not be established.
There is no problem with firewall. Another DC is working without any issue.
Please help me to find out a solution.

Hi Jimmy,
Can you check by disabling IPV6 and then check if the limited connectivity disappears?
Thanks,

Wondering if this error has been resolved?
I disabled ipv6 but still get the following repeated errors when I boot up:
Event 202 The Network List Manager reports no connectivity to the internet.
Event 200 A connection to the Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) could not be established.
I am using Windows 2012, Virtualbox Host Only Adapter with no need for internet connection or domain or dns
Any help appreciated

Hi,
This blog entry has some helpful information: The Network Connection Status Icon
In this blog, there is a statement:
Since the connection status icon can only show the status for one connection it will aggregate the individual statuses and display the most limited connection. Therefore if more than one network adapter is present, but only one probe succeeds, Windows will still report “Limited Access “and indicate a Local only status. In Microsoft DirectAccess, NCSI is also used for Inside/outside determination (Outside corporate network or Inside corporate network). To do this the NCSI process tries to communicate with the I/O (Inside/Outside) server using an HTTPS query.
Therefore, in the original post of this thread, the problem is that there are two network adapters. One of them has limited connectivity, and this is what the icon is displaying. Disabling IPv6 is not a solution to this problem. If there is a network adapter on the system that isn't in use, try disabling that adapter.

I realize this is an old thread, but does anyone know if there is a way to make NCSI ignore the network adapter that doesn't have Internet Access without disabling it?
Also, funny thing... this 2012 Server has been running fine for about a year & just within the last month or so we started seeing these 201 & 202 events. Prior to that, they didn't show up. Configuration hasn't changed...

Is Network Location Awareness service running? Start the service and see if this issue is resolved.

Hi,
This may have to do with the DNS configured on the network adapter, change it from 127.0.0.1 to the local IP address instead and it should resolve the problem.

What solved this problem for me is to disable the unused network adapter and restart the Network Location Awareness service.Thursday, May 26, 2016 1:57 PM

This may help similarly afflicted users:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/929852
But ultimately the reason why one of my systems had limited connectivity was a duplicate IP address for the machine's virtual-network card and in the DNS table. The IP had been used in a parallel (trusted) domain DNS.
I re-IP'd the machine and all well.

This is what fixed it for me! Just needed my LAN IP as my first DNS entry, and 127.0.0.1 as my second - then restarting the Network Location Awareness service fixed the error showing in my system tray.Friday, March 16, 2018 9:02 AM

Hello Jimmy,
Windows 2008 R2 SP1 by default Network List service is in disable mode. Set to automatic and start the service. It works. No need of rebooting service.
