WSUS Version Numbers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all. Ive been looking for a list of WSUS Version numbers. I am having a problem trying to figure out if my WSUS Servers are fully up to date with the actual patches for WSUS.  Trying to google that is a problem in and of itself, due to the terms in use (WSUS, patch, Version, etc).

Here is what I have so far. I am noticing Windows 10 clients showing up as Windows Vista Enterprise, so am hoping there is another one or two I am missing!

WSUS 3.0 (RC): WSUS 3.0 (RC) Build 3.0.6000.318
WSUS 3.0 (RTW): WSUS 3.0 (RTW) Build 3.0.6000.374
    WSUS 3.0 (SP1): WSUS 3.0 (SP1) Build 3.1.6001.65
    WSUS 3.0 (SP1 + KB954960) Build 3.1.6001.66
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2 Beta) Build 3.2.7000.84
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2 RC) Build 3.2.7085.146
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2) KB972455 Build 3.2.7600.226
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2 + KB2720211) Build 3.2.7600.251
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2 + KB2734608) Build 3.2.7600.256
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2 + KB2828185) Build 3.2.7600.262
    WSUS 3.0 (SP2 + KB2828185 + KB2938066) Build 3.2.7600.274

    First download WSUS 3.0 SP2 (.226 usually), http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5216
Then apply the patch for .262
    Download Link for KB2828185 (.262) http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38429

    (Skip right to this one)
Then apply the patch for .274
    Download Link for KB2938066 (.274) https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=43633

    AND [OSMinorVersion] = '0'
    AND [OldProductType] = '1'
AND ([OSDescription] <> 'Windows 10' or [OSDescription] IS NULL)

    WSUS 3.0 (SP1): WSUS 3.0 (SP1) Build 3.1.6001.65
    WSUS 3.0 (SP1 + KB954960) Build 3.1.6001.66

MSFT have not yet released an update for WSUS to address this deficiency :(

An update has been released for WS2012/WS2012R2, but none for WS2008R2 so far...
