  • I have issue in one of my VMware Cluster servers, Event id 1135 occurs and restart the cluster service automatically all the cluster resources are went offline. Kindly find the Event it information below.

    System Event id 1281

Joiner tried to Create Security Context using Package='Kerberos' with Context Requirement ='67586' and Timeout ='30000' for the target = 'node-a' 4 times.

    After that Event id 1135

Occurred and Cluster node 'node- b' was removed from the active failover cluster membership. The Cluster service on this node may have stopped. This could also be due to the node having lost communication with other active nodes in the failover cluster.

    Event id 1251

Cluster network interface 'node a - Public' for cluster node 'vwsql01a' on network 'Cluster Network 1' is operational (up). The node can communicate with all other available failover cluster nodes on the network

    Event id 1049

Cluster IP address resource 'SQL IP Address 1 (Cluster group)' cannot be brought online because a duplicate IP address 'xx.xx.xx.xx' was detected on the network.  Please ensure all IP addresses are unique.

Public NIC Configured -- Intel Card

Private NIC Configured -- VMX adapter

We have Verified Network connection could not find any drop also Server utilization was normal. I have no clue why this issue occurring.

  • By "VMware Cluster servers" do you mean you have two VMs which are configured for Guest Failover Clustering? If so, it looks like you have a network configuration problem with your VMs. First you need to resolve this issue:

"cannot be brought online because a duplicate IP address.."

Verify you have the following IP addresses and that they are unique on the two networks:

    Subnet 1:

Node 1 Public, Node 2 Public, SQL IP Address (could be in a separate subnet)

    Subnet 2 (non-routable to Subnet 1)

Node 1 Private, Node 2 Private.

With the 2 VMs shut down, a ping for all IP addresses within this failover cluster should fail. If they don't, you've found your duplicate IP address on your network.
