How can I force Windows Web Server 2008 R2 to act as if a visible desktop exists? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.  I developed a web application that uses OpenGL to render 3D content into images that it then serves in web pages.  I have a problem when running the web server on a remotely hosted server running Windows Web Server 2008 R2.  OpenGL appears to require a visible desktop in order to function.  Therefore my web application malfunctions if

    • no RDP session exists, or
    • an RDP session exists but is minimized.

I would like my web application to function without the need for a visible RDP session.  Thanks for sharing any Windows expertise that might help me achieve this!
