  • Hello raminsr,

Thank you for posting in this forum.

Before we go further, I would like to confirm the following questions:

(192.168.10.0/24) and (192.168.20.0/24) are two different DHCP servers, right?

turn off PC and move to another location

Can you describe this process in more detail?  Do you join the PC to another domain?

If you simply shut down the computer and move it in physical location, but its logical location is still in the environment. Then the computer will still ask the previous DHCP for renewal. And when a computer joins a domain, its preferred DNS in the NIC property points to that domain. So in this case, the computer doesn't change its DHCP and DNS.

    Best Regards,

    Leon

  • 1-we have just one DHCP server

2-in the DHCP server we have different scope (192.168.10.0,192.168.20.0 and ...)

3-when change workstation to different scope its get new IP in that range but never update our DNS sever so we should change DNS entry manually .

    Thank you

  • Hello raminsr,

Expand the Scope menu and you will see this option: Scope options.

You can configure the DNS server here, and then the client that obtains the IP address from this DHCP Scope will also automatically obtain the DNS IP address. Of course, the NIC properties on the client should be configured like this:

  • Hi raminsr,

Just want to confirm again, in the client's NIC properties, is DNS configured to be automatically obtained?

Make sure that the DNS options configured in the two scopes are not the same DNS server.

In the client's CMD, run "ipconfig /release" and then run "ipconfig /renew" to see if you can get the updated DNS.

    Best Regards,

    Leon

  • Hi raminsr,

On DNS side, please enable dynamic update.

On the clients, go to NIC Properties->IPv4->Properties->Advanced->DNS and check "Register this connection's address in DNS".

  • Hi raminsr,

I suspect that your machine has disjoined domain.

On the machines which have the issue, statically configure their preferred DNS server as the domain-controller's IP address, then quit and re-join the domain.

    Best Regards,

    Leon
