managing Workgroup Server remotely RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi
Managing a Workgroup Server with the Server Manager situated on a Domain-Server within the same IP range must be configured like this (according to TechNet: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831453.aspx):

    1. On the Server running Server Manager run the PS command:
    Set-Item wsman:\localhost\Client\TrustedHosts Server01 -Concatenate –Force

    2. On the Workgroup Server to be managed run the PS command:
New-ItemProperty -Name LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy -path HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System -propertyType DWord -value 1

    3. In Server Manager on the Domain Server log on to the workgroup server with ‘Manage as’ Menu option.

In my case, after these steps I still get a Kerberos error when I log on according to step 3.

    Note:
Since one need to log on with the built in Administrator account of the Workgroup Server, the question is, if the error occurs, because I renamed the built in Administrator account for security reasons.

Is there any configuration step to add for successful remote management?
