Configure servers name with two IPs RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello I config this on my DNS Server:

    REGISTER HOST A-->   SERVER1.DOMAIN.LOCAL        172.17.1.1

    REGISTER HOST A-->   SERVER1.DOMAIN.LOCAL        172.17.5.1

    REGISTER HOST A-->   SERVER2.DOMAIN.LOCAL        172.17.1.2

    REGISTER HOST A-->   SERVER2.DOMAIN.LOCAL        172.17.5.2

    I have two Workstations with two Nics:

    NIC1: 172.17.1.10-11

    NIC2: 172.17.5.10-11

    I need this machine resolve SERVER1.DOMAIN.LOCAL and SERVER2.DOMAIN.LOCAL with NIC2 (172,17,5,x), and I can't use the host file.

    And the others machines with only NIC: 172.17.1.x resolve with the 172.17.1.x

    any idea?

  • Hello,

    Thank you for posting in this forum.

    If you check Enable netmask oedering and the IP address of " this machine " is 172.17.5.x and the IP address of " other machines " is 172.17.1.x, then your need can be met.

    Best Regards,

    Leon

  • Enable netmask oedering is a setting on DNS server. Enabling it will cause the DNS server to preferentially return records on the same subnet as the client.
