I'm running a Windows Media Services server that has some streams on it. Now i'm not able to listen them on an Android Phone. Is there a plugin for Windows Media Services so it will be able to stream also to an Android phone?
Or should i search for a App on the Android to play them?
Windows Media Services has a legacy of over 10 years. During that time Windows Media Player was the primary client. Microsoft's future direction for streaming is IIS Media Services and Smooth Streaming. Already this newer platform supports iOS clients. We're definitely looking at other clients as well.
David, and yet now IIS Smooth Streaming has been replaced by the way too expensive and puts windows as a media server out of the price range for the little guys, Azure..
Seems you have four choices now for streaming video
1. Abandon Microsoft and go 100% free on Linux platform
2. purchase Wowza Server for around 650$
3. struggle making the abandoned Microsoft products of yesteryear compatible with todays stuff
4. spend thousands on azure.
I'm kinda thinking desktop Microsoft products will soon be going the way of the windows phone, almost nonexistent almost nonsupported and almost extinct..
BTW I love my windows 8.1 phone. I hate that out of about 4,000+ friends only me and 1 other guy have em..
