Print Quota RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi MS,

I was really hoping for a print quota feature to be implemented into print management. Please make this a feature of Server 9. That would make it just another reason to upgrade and reduce on 3rd party applications. Failing that Server 2012 seems good so far, I like the new dashboard although it did take a few days to get used to.

  • We use PaperCut for our print accounting/quotas.  The product sold itself to us during our demo of it.  Their support is outstanding (slight understatement) and their upgrades are "boring" as they just work.  http://www.papercut.com/tour

With Windows Server 2008R2 PaperCut and many other places have discovered a minor issue with MS's driver isolation implementation.  If one wants to enforce quotas in PaperCut, due to the way MS designed driver isolation, one can not enable driver isolation on their print server.  At this time, we have not had an issue with this as we only use MS signed PCL or PS (x64 and x86) drivers from the printer's manufacture (from HP we use their latest Universal Drivers).
