  • From Hyper-V manager you will not be able to see the reported IP address of a VM unless the KVP daemon is running. Have you installed the recommended packages on your system?

On Ubuntu 14.04, for example, see Note 5 on https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn531029.aspx

On Fedora 21 there is no kvp daemon, so you won't be able to see addresses from the outside.

  • I would also note that network connectivity should work fine, even if the IP address is not displayed in Hyper-V because the KVP daemon is not running.  Of course, the network connectivity problem could be due to some other configuration problem, inability to get an IP address from DHCP, etc., etc.

Also, is there a reason you are using a "Legacy Network Adapter" in your virtual machine, instead of just a "Network Adapter"?  Network performance will be hugely better if you use a "Network Adapter" along with a relatively current Linux distro.

       Yes

    And:

Very often "Legacy Network Adapter" in modern Linuxes simply not work or "not work as need"

Sorry for repost, but answer may be actual and in this topic:

Joshua R. Poulson ( Program Manager, Microsoft Open Source Technology Center) say:

    I booted a vanilla Fedora 21 server and   . . .    .

The daemons for kvp, vrss, and fcopy are not present, even after a yum update. As a result, you won't be able to do key/value pair queries (which is how HyperV Manager and Powershell use WIM to get values out of the VM), snapshots, or copy files into and out of the VM. But the core vmbus, network, and storage pieces are there.

In RHEL, images come pre-installed with hypervkvpd
