  • Question

  • Seeing massive numbers of these warnings on newly migrated Server 2012 from SBS2003:

    Event ID:      910
    Task Category: Performance
    Level:         Warning
    Keywords:      Classic
    User:          N/A
    Computer:      adomaincontroller.local
    Description:
taskhostex (7396) The database cache size maintenance task has taken 60 seconds without completing. This may result in severe performance degradation. Current cache size is 5 buffers above the configured cache limit (117 percent of target). Cache size maintenance evicted 0 buffers, made 8160 flush attempts, and successfully flushed 0 buffers. It has run 88349 times since maintenance was triggered.

Have searched for a solution on this without any luck - any ideas please?

    Thanks, C

  • Hi Robert

Yes found it and tracked it down to two scheduled tasks that were failing to run under .net Framework in Task Scheduler.  By disabling the two tasks the error stopped. The tasks have been recreated by the system and are running fine now with no more Esent errors.

A load more information events have now started to appear for the Software Protection Service, but I think this is coincidental and needs further investigation and possibly a new question!

    Thanks, C
