NVIDIA Drivers for W2K8

    Question

  •

I just installed W2K8 RC0.  Windows says my NVIDIA 7600GT graphics card is a "Standard VGA Adapter".  I cannot find working drivers for the card that will install on W2K8.

The standard vga adapter driver would be ok except that I have a 22 inch LCD monitor with 1680x1050 resolution and the standard vga adapter driver does not support that.

This same card works great on the same box with Vista Ultimate x64.

The hardware is an Intel dual Xeon motherboard with dual quad-core Xeons, 8GB of RAM and 4 500GB SATA hard drives.

Does anyone know of NVIDIA drivers that will work with W2K8?

    Thanks for any help,

    Dale

  • FWIW - bit late, but others seeking the info will look here too: On my GeForce FX5200, with x64 2K8 (En GB), this one works: 96.85_forceware_winvista_x64_international_whql.

No later version has, they all give the message about the OS not being supported, then exit. But the above driver has worked from Beta 3 through to Final, no problem.

    Eat it raw!

  • I have an NVIDIA Quadro 3300 card. Are there any drivers that are known to work with W2K8 and the Quadro? I'm also using the 3DS Max Performance driver. Though I suppose that would be asking a lot for that to work too?

For those who may be trying to get an old Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 working, I followed The Real Shanes response and went to the Nvidia site, found the "Beta and Archived Drivers" link and downloaded the 96.85 Forceware drivers for Vista 64 bit.

After a restart, the drivers worked perfectly.

Thanks goes to The Real Shane.  :-)

  • Hey what about 191.07_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql?  Is that a good for 6200OC?

  • Only one way to find out.

I found that when I was installing the Vista 64bit drivers an error message was displayed (before I tried the Forceware drivers).

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any forceware drivers for the 6200.

If it doesn't work, you might want to take a look at the "Beta and Archived Drivers" link and see if the latest beta version works.

If you get it working, post a message here in case someone else needs to find a working driver as well.
