Thanks for your post in our forum.

Could you please describe your requirement more detailed?

Or, do you want to limit the connection to port 445 on the local computer?

    Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks again for your understanding and support.

    Best Regards,

    Otto

  • Dear Otto,

Because we setup two task and one is connected with shared folder of win2012 r2 server, but although we have saved the permission when connection to win2012 shared folder, the connection at some computer  sometimes will be not connected. We total have 11 computers , some is winxp , mostly is win7 , some is win10 operating system .

Is there suggestion for the condition? Thanks a lot.

  • Are you asking if there is a built-in limit to the number of TCP connections that can be made to a system?  If so, the default limit is something like 16 million connections for Windows Server.  So if you are having issues with connectivity, it is highly unlikely that you are exhausting the connection limit.

Windows XP, when serving SMB shares, had a limit of 10 connections.  Windows 7 upped that limit to 20.  But you are saying that the share being accessed is on Windows Server, so you would be back to the millions of connections allowed.

Is there any sort of pattern to the inability to connect?  Is it a specific system that is unable to connect?  What error/warning messages are you receiving when it fails to connect?

  • The condition is usually happened in winxp with win2012 operating system. When winxp connected to win2012 operating system, I keyin username and password and then saved the permission for winxp computer. Probably when winxp computer turn off and then turn on, we must keyin username and password again to connect to win2012 sharing folder.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Sounds like normal operation.

What do you mean when you say you 'save the permission for winxp'?  How/where are you saving it?
