MFA & ADFS - Windows Authentication issue RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

    So I have just setup an environment running ADFS and a custom authentication provider. The environment is like this:

    * All servers are running 2012 R2

    * One webserver running IIS 7

    * One server running ADFS with MFA and the custom provider

    * One server as domain controller / dhcp / dns

    Now, if I go to https://webserver/testapp in IE:

    * I get redirected to the MFA server

    * I get asked for credentials (need to find how to disable that one, but not urgent) via the IE pop up

    * I get a 404

    In Chrome:

    * I get redirected to the MFA server

    * I get asked for credentials via a web page like the typical live.com web page

    * The custom authentication provider webpage shows up

    * I enter the code

    * I get redirected to the initial web server (and at that point the application fails :))

    So the question is:

    * What is up with IE in this case ?

    * The only info I have in the event viewer is: There are no registered protocol handlers on path /adfs/ls to process the incoming request.

    Note: This only happened once, while I tried multiple request via IE, so I believe they are not linked.

    How do I fix this so IE works ?

    So I disable windows authentication as primary authentication on the ADFS policies and now IE works.

    So how do I fix ADFS to work with windows authentication ?

    Thanks :)

    As for this error message, there are no registered protocol handlers on path /adfs/ls to process the incoming request, here is a dedicated IIS forum below:

    Thank you for your understanding and support.

    Best Regards,
